I began experimenting with Polaroid transfers in 2003 after taking a class at the Lawrence Arts Center. I love the element of surprise with Polaroid — you never know exactly what you’ll get when you peel the film off the paper. As I continue to explore this unique art form, the perfectionist in me has learned to embrace both the unpredictability of this medium and the process of creating art. See my Polaroid portfolio here.
I have also taken the leap into digital photography. I am enjoying the instant gratification of digital (strangely like Polaroid in that respect), and am working on developing my digital photography portfolio. Please see my digital work here.
My day job as a librarian has led me to the world of handmade books. I took a beginning bookmaking class at the Lawrence Arts Center in 2005 and recently attended the 8th biennial Focus on Book Arts conference in Oregon. I’m excited to explore the world of artists’ books from the artist-side of things and look forward to completing my first book.
